The Presiding Member of the Bia West District Assembly in the Western North Region, Hon. Daniel Mbugri, has inspected a number of ongoing and stalled development projects across the district as part of efforts to monitor progress, assess quality and promote accountability in the execution of public projects.
The inspection covered several infrastructure projects, including borehole facilities, Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, a classroom block, the 24-Hour Economy market and road projects in various communities.
Speaking to Odehyieba after the inspection, Mr. Mbugri expressed satisfaction with the progress of work at the sites visited and urged contractors to accelerate construction and, where possible, complete projects ahead of schedule.
“I am very excited to see the projects ongoing. I embarked on this tour to observe and evaluate whether the projects are in good shape or not, and I am really excited about what I witnessed,” he said.
The presiding member stressed the importance of ensuring that projects are executed according to agreed timelines and meet the required standards to provide value for money and serve their intended purposes.
He also appealed to chiefs, religious leaders, churches and residents to take ownership of development projects within their communities and support efforts to ensure their successful completion and long-term maintenance.
Mr. Mbugri urged residents not to view government-funded projects as belonging to a particular political party, stressing that such interventions are public investments intended to improve the lives of citizens regardless of their political affiliations.
He said active community involvement would help protect public infrastructure from neglect and ensure that completed facilities remain functional and beneficial to residents.
The Presiding Member further called for development projects to be insulated from partisan politics, noting that the benefits of public infrastructure extend beyond political interests and should therefore be supported by all stakeholders.
