The Nkoranza North District Department of Agriculture in the Bono East Region has distributed more than one thousand five hundred (1,500) bags of fertiliser to registered farmers to boost crop production.
The exercise, held on August 24, 2026, at the Department of Agriculture in Busunya, was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Effah Patrick and supervised by officers of the Department of Agriculture to ensure the inputs reached the intended beneficiaries.
According to the DCE, the intervention is aimed at supporting farmers with essential agricultural inputs to enhance their farming activities.
“This intervention is expected to contribute to improved crop yields, food production, and the livelihoods of farmers within the district,” Mr Effah stated.
Beneficiaries went through verification and registration processes conducted by agricultural extension officers before receiving their allocations.
The DCE disclosed in an interview that more than 1,500 bags of fertiliser distributed to the first batch of registered farmers demonstrate the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration to improving agricultural production under the government’s agriculture transformation agenda.
“The free fertilisers are aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and improving food security,” he said, adding that the intervention is not politicised but reflects the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring sustainable agricultural development.
He noted that agriculture remains the backbone of the national economy and reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering farmers to increase productivity, improve incomes, and strengthen the agricultural value chain.
He further encouraged beneficiary farmers to make effective use of the fertilisers to increase crop yields while urging those yet to benefit to remain calm for the next phase of distribution.
