The Chairman of the Bono East Regional Lands Commission, Lawyer John Owusu Agyemang, has commended the Paramount Chief of Techiman, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, for donating 310 acres of stool land to the Government of Ghana to facilitate the development of the Bono East regional capital.
Mr. Owusu Agyemang said the land, donated through the Ohene Ameyaw Paramountcy Stool Lands, has been officially handed over to the government through the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council for the construction of regional ministerial offices and other key government institutions in Techiman.
He described the donation as a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the Bono East Region, saying it reflects the Techiman Traditional Council’s commitment to supporting the government’s decentralisation agenda and efforts to strengthen public administration in the region.
According to him, the availability of the land will pave the way for the development of modern government infrastructure that will improve service delivery and enhance the status of Techiman as the regional capital.
Lawyer Owusu Agyemang also reiterated an earlier appeal by the Techiman Akwamuhene and Acting President of the Techiman Traditional Council, Nana Owusu Gyare, urging the government to ensure that the land is used strictly for the purpose for which it was donated.
He cautioned against the allocation, sale or diversion of any portion of the land for private development, stressing that the gesture by the Techiman Omanhene was intended exclusively to support the construction of regional government ministries and other essential public infrastructure.
He expressed confidence that the proper utilisation of the land would accelerate infrastructure development, improve access to public services and contribute significantly to the long-term growth of the Bono East Region.
The donation is expected to provide a permanent site for regional government institutions and support ongoing efforts to position Techiman as a fully functional administrative and economic hub for the Bono East Region.
