The Techiman Traditional Council has called on residents to actively participate in a major clean-up exercise scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2026, as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and promote public health across the municipality.
The appeal was made by Oheneba Owusu Antwi Boasiako, Kentenhene and Dabehene of the Techiman Traditional Council, who urged residents to support the initiative by coming out in large numbers to help create a cleaner and healthier environment.
Speaking ahead of the exercise, Oheneba Owusu Antwi Boasiako said the clean-up campaign will cover several key areas of the municipality, including Manprusi Line, Hassan Line, Dagomba Line, Magazine, the Techiman Central Market, and other adjoining communities.
He stressed that maintaining environmental cleanliness is a collective responsibility and called on residents, traders, transport operators, market women, business owners and community-based organisations to play their part in ensuring the success of the exercise.
According to him, a clean environment is essential for preventing disease outbreaks, improving public health and enhancing the image of Techiman as a commercial hub.
Also speaking ahead of the exercise, the Secretary of the Techiman Youth Association, Twi Kofi Benjamin, appealed to young people across the municipality to actively participate in the campaign.
He described the youth as key stakeholders in community development and urged them to demonstrate leadership by supporting efforts to improve sanitation in the municipality.
Mr. Benjamin noted that environmental cleanliness requires the collective commitment of every resident and encouraged young people to volunteer their time and energy to make the exercise a success.
He expressed optimism that sustained community participation in sanitation initiatives would help reduce indiscriminate waste disposal, improve public hygiene and contribute to a healthier and more attractive Techiman.
The clean-up exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Techiman Traditional Council and its partners to promote environmental responsibility, strengthen community participation and create a cleaner, safer and more sustainable municipality for residents and visitors alike.
