The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 72-year-old man in connection with the murder of two (2) persons at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region.

The suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, was arrested on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at his hideout in Tikrom, near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

The arrest follows investigations into the deaths of Irene Atubiga, 47, and  George Atubiga, 57, whose murder were reported by the Accra Regional Police Command in a press release issued on October 30, 2026.

In a statement dated November 2 and signed by Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the Command said the arrest was carried out after officers received intelligence about the suspect’s whereabouts.

Police source noted that a Smith & Wesson pistol and seven rounds of live ammunition were retrieved during the operation. The firearm and ammunition have been retained as exhibits.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the killings may have been linked to a financial dispute involving the deceased, George Atubiga, who allegedly owed the suspect GH¢500,000 but had failed to repay the money.

The police have not indicated whether the recovered firearm has been linked to the killings.

However, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
