Retired Ministerial Secretary of the Mid-North Ghana Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor John Akumfi Ameyaw, has called on Christians to be intentional about the words they speak, reminding believers that their speech should encourage, uplift and strengthen others rather than bring discouragement or division.

He made the call while delivering a sermon at the farewell service held for Pastor Emmanuel Opoku Takyi Gyefour at the Nsuta Seventh-day Adventist Church on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

Preaching on the importance of Christian conduct, Pastor Ameyaw said the tongue is a powerful instrument that must be used to glorify God and promote peace among people. He urged Christians to guard their speech at all times, stressing that words have the power to either build lives or destroy relationships.

Drawing his message from 1 Peter 5:8–9, he encouraged believers to remain spiritually alert, steadfast in their faith, and vigilant against the schemes of the devil.

“The words we speak reflect the condition of our hearts. As followers of Christ, we must choose words that heal, encourage and strengthen one another,” he said.

The service was organised to bid farewell to Pastor Emmanuel Opoku Takyi Gyefour following his transfer to the Prince Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Techiman, where he will continue his pastoral ministry.

In his farewell remarks, Pastor Opoku Takyi Gyefour thanked the congregation for their unwavering support, prayers and cooperation throughout his ministry in the Nsuta District.

He encouraged members to remain faithful to God, continue growing spiritually, and support the mission of the church wherever they find themselves.

“I am grateful for the love you have shown me and my family. Let us continue to trust in God and work together in advancing His kingdom,” he said.

The Nsuta District Elder of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Elder Asare Amos, also paid tribute to the outgoing pastor, describing him as a humble, dedicated and hardworking servant of God whose leadership had positively impacted the district.

He commended Pastor Opoku Takyi Gyefour for his commitment to evangelism, pastoral care and the spiritual growth of the congregation, expressing confidence that he would continue to make meaningful contributions in his new station.

“We thank God for your service to this district and pray that He grants you wisdom, strength and success as you begin this new chapter of ministry in Techiman,” Elder Amos said.

The send-off service brought together church leaders, pastors, members, family, and well-wishers from across the district to celebrate Pastor Opoku Takyi Gyefour’s ministry and wish him God’s guidance and blessings in his new pastoral assignment.

The event was marked by prayers, tributes, and messages of appreciation, reflecting the strong relationship the outgoing pastor built with the congregation during his tenure in the Nsuta District.
