The Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Hon. Benjamin Komla Kpodo, has expressed his frustration with the Municipal Chief Executive of Ho, Hon. Divine Bosson, accusing him of failing to sign letters necessary for releasing funds from the MPs’ common fund for various development projects in the constituency.

According to Hon. Kpodo, he had pledged support to several communities for their development projects using funds from his allocation, but the MCE has been reluctant to approve the necessary paperwork, leading him to believe that the MCE is attempting to undermine his reputation among the people.

Hon. Kpodo made these allegations during a gathering of chiefs and residents of Akoefe Achati, a community within the Ho Municipality, during their inaugural Youth Homecoming festival on a recent holiday.

The festival aimed to raise funds for the construction of drainage systems to improve the community’s infrastructure.

Despite his frustrations, the MP reassured the community of his commitment to their projects and instructed the Assembly member to personally deliver the letters to the MCE and ensure the release of funds for the community’s benefit.

“The only obstacle I’m facing now is accessing the funds allocated to MPs for development projects. I have entrusted my share to the assembly. I will write a letter to the assembly, and the Assemblyman will deliver it to the MCE. If he fails, the community should demand the funds for the project,” Hon. Kpodo asserted.

He further claimed that he had submitted requests for the release of funds, including Ghc5,000 for a bridge construction project in Atikpui over the Tordzie River, Ghc10,000 to support Ziavi Adukorfe in securing water supply from the Ghana Water Company, and Ghc5,000 for the construction of a community center in Hoviefe. However, the MCE has not signed off on any of these requests.

Hon. Kpodo stated that he has escalated the issue to the Regional Minister, Hon. Archibald Letsa, alleging that the MCE’s behavior demonstrates a lack of respect for the Minister’s authority.

He urged the residents of Ho Central Constituency to remain vigilant and observe the MCE’s actions closely.
