The Ghana Police Service has arrested a total of eight (8) additional suspected highway robbers allegedly linked to a robbery incident that occurred on March 26, 2026, at Aframso Bridge on the Manpong-Ejura highway.
The arrest was an intelligence-led operation by the Ashanti regional police command in collaboration with personnel from NOD/Surveillance Unit HQ/Accra.
Police said, on March 26, 2026, at about 15:30 hours, six (6) armed men attacked one Appiah Joseph, a driver of a Ssangyong minibus with registration number AS-1859-12 and fourteen (14) passengers on board, from Kumasi to Atebubu.
They said the victims were robbed of cash and mobile phones.
Upon gathering intelligence, the command mounted a surveillance on the suspects and proceeded to the Amankwa Dadey Hotel on March 30, 2026, where the suspects were found sharing money suspected to be proceeds from the robbery.
The eight include Amidu Sajo-42 years, Ibrahim Sule-36, Karim Hadu-40, Malik Jibrila-38, Yusifa Asakoko-23, Umaru Issifu-20, Damani Yamba-36 and Ibrahim Iddrisu alias Bule-46.
