Electricity supply has been restored to residents of Abofour-Dumasua in the Offinso South Municipality following the intervention of the Bono East Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).

The community had been without electricity for about three weeks after a 200KVA transformer serving the area developed a fault during the first week of August.

Residents subsequently lodged complaints with the PURC over the prolonged outage and delays in replacing the transformer.

Following its intervention, the Commission engaged affected residents and community leaders and directed the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) to expedite work to restore power.

NEDCo had attributed the delay in replacing the transformer to transportation challenges encountered by its Techiman Area Office.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, officials of the PURC accompanied NEDCo personnel to the community to supervise the replacement of the faulty transformer.

The replacement was subsequently completed, leading to the restoration of electricity supply to Abofour-Dumasua.

The PURC thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the period of the outage and said the intervention was part of its responsibility to ensure quality and reliable utility services.

Residents, for their part, expressed appreciation to the Commission for responding to their concerns and facilitating the restoration of power.

The development brings an end to weeks of disruption that had affected households and businesses in the community.
