The Bono East Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has engaged residents of Abofour-Dumasua in the Offinso South Municipality following complaints over a prolonged interruption in electricity supply.
Residents had petitioned the Commission after a 200KVA transformer serving the community developed a fault during the first week of August, leaving the area without electricity.
The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), which supplies electricity to the community, had indicated that it would replace the faulty transformer. However, the replacement was delayed after the company’s Area Office in Techiman reportedly encountered transportation challenges.
The prolonged outage heightened concerns among residents, prompting the PURC to intervene.
On Monday, August 24, 2026, officials of the Commission met community leaders and affected consumers to address their concerns and assure them that steps were being taken to restore power.
The PURC subsequently directed NEDCo to expedite the replacement of the faulty transformer and restore electricity supply to the community.
The Commission said the intervention was aimed at ensuring that residents received reliable electricity service and that their concerns as consumers were properly addressed.
The engagement formed part of the PURC’s mandate to monitor utility service delivery and protect the interests of consumers.
