Ghanaian Hiplife and Hip-hop artist Maradona Yeboah Adjei, popularly known as Guru NKZ, is set to release a new single titled “Yate Woti,” a song he says addresses betrayal, deception and the loss of what rightfully belongs to people.
The song was officially unveiled during an entertainment and showbiz review programme on Fabea FM, hosted by Apiah-Kubi, on Saturday, August 29, where a snippet of the track was played to an enthusiastic response from listeners and industry pundits.
Produced by Ghanaian sound engineer Governor, “Yate Woti” is built around a mid-tempo Hiplife rhythm and combines English with indigenous Ghanaian dialects, alongside catchy hooks and a message drawn from everyday experiences.
According to Guru, the song was inspired by situations in which individuals are deceived or manipulated into losing their inheritance, authority or other things to which they are legitimately entitled.
He said the song explores themes of betrayal, rejection and greed, issues that resonate across families, traditional leadership, business and politics.
Guru explained that “Yate Woti” speaks to situations in which people are deliberately deceived and denied what rightfully belongs to them.
The forthcoming single adds to Guru’s catalogue of popular songs accumulated over more than a decade in the Ghanaian music industry.
He has established himself as one of Ghana’s notable Hiplife hitmakers, with songs including “Lapaz Toyota,” “Boys Abr3,” “Amen,” “Bonsam Ani,” “Pooley,” “Samba,” “Problem,” “Alkayida” and “Mpaebo.”
Music industry pundits who heard the preview on Fabea FM described “Yate Woti” as a potential street anthem, citing its danceable rhythm, lyrical content and production quality.
The official release date, music video and streaming details are expected to be announced through Guru NKZ’s social media platforms.
