MobileMoney Fintech Limited, operators of MTN MoMo, has launched a nationwide three-month incentive campaign aimed at encouraging commercial tricycle (“keke”) riders to adopt digital payment solutions as part of efforts to deepen financial inclusion and promote a cashless transport ecosystem in Ghana.

The initiative, dubbed “Ride with MoMo”, was officially launched in Ho on Thursday, July 16, 2026, and offers participants weekly cash rewards, monthly cash prizes and free mobile data bundles for accepting fares through MTN MoMo.

Speaking at the launch, the manager for mobile money channel development at MobileMoney Fintech Limited, Faisal Ali, said the campaign seeks to encourage riders to receive payments through MoMo merchant wallets and quick response (QR) codes, while rewarding them for supporting Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.

“This is an opportunity for riders to use MoMo to accept payments. As you promote digital payments, we also want to reward you for supporting Ghana’s digital agenda,” Mr. Ali said.

Under the promotional campaign, registered riders who complete at least 20 customer transactions in a week, with a cumulative transaction value of GH¢1,000 or more, will automatically receive 1 gigabyte (GB) of mobile data.

In addition, the top 100 performing riders nationwide each week will receive GH¢500 in cash, together with the complimentary data bundle.

Outstanding participants will also be eligible for monthly cash prizes of GH¢1,000, based on their overall transaction volumes during the three-month campaign.

Mr. Ali encouraged tricycle operators who have not yet enrolled in the initiative to register using only their Ghana Card at any MTN Service Centre or designated registration point across the country.

As part of efforts to accelerate customer adoption, MobileMoney Fintech Limited has also introduced a referral programme through which participating riders will receive 300 megabytes (MB) of mobile data for every passenger they successfully encourage to download the MoMo App and make payments using QR codes.

The campaign also recognises the role of organised transport groups. According to Mr. Ali, any tricycle riders’ association that successfully registers at least 100 members will qualify for special rewards from the company.

He explained that beyond the incentive packages, the campaign is designed to address the inconveniences associated with cash transactions, including the challenge of finding change and the security risks linked to carrying physical cash.

“With MoMo, riders no longer need to carry cash or move around looking for change. It makes business safer, faster and more convenient for both riders and passengers,” he noted.

MobileMoney Fintech Limited reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging digital innovation to support businesses and expand financial inclusion, urging transport operators across the country to embrace cashless payment systems to improve operational efficiency, enhance financial management and provide greater convenience for customers.
