An aspiring Ahafo Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Robert Sarfo-Mensah, popularly known as Hon. Booba has criticized the NDC government over what he describes as the failed and misleading implementation of the much-publicized 24-Hour Economy Policy.
Speaking in a one-on-one interview on Victory FM at Mim in the Ahafo Region, Hon. Booba accused the government of creating unrealistic expectations among Ghanaians with promises of a transformational economic policy aimed at generating jobs, expanding industries, and revitalizing the economy through round-the-clock productivity.
According to him, the current state of the policy has exposed it as mere political propaganda intended to win votes from the youth rather than deliver meaningful economic transformation.
“The NDC promised Ghanaians a 24-Hour Economy, but what we are seeing today is a 24-Hour Market agenda. Ghanaians were expecting factories, industries, investments, and sustainable jobs, not just market projects branded with political slogans,” he stated.
Hon. Booba further alleged that the government lacks a clear economic strategy and has failed to provide practical solutions to rising unemployment and economic hardship confronting many citizens.
“You cannot deceive the youth with catchy slogans while unemployment continues to rise. The Ghanaian people voted for economic transformation, not cosmetic projects and political branding,” he added.
The NPP stalwart maintained that the New Patriotic Party remains the only political party with a proven track record in industrialization, infrastructure development, job creation, and economic growth through initiatives such as the One District One Factory programme and other business-support interventions.
He also called on NPP supporters in the Ahafo Region and across the country to remain united and focused as the party reorganizes ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the NPP must reconnect with grassroots supporters and present Ghanaians with credible and visionary leadership capable of regaining public confidence.
“The NPP must learn from the past, reconnect with the grassroots, and offer Ghanaians credible and visionary leadership once again. The people are already seeing through the deception,” he said.
Hon. Booba further reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the NPP in the Ahafo Region through grassroots mobilization, unity, and strategic leadership aimed at helping the party reclaim lost parliamentary seats in the 2028 elections.
