The Omanhene of the Basa Traditional Area and President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Owusu Sakyi III, has donated two brand-new Royal motorcycles and 40 plastic-metal chairs to the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Health Service to support security operations and healthcare delivery in the Sene East District.
The donation was made during the Akwasidae Festival held at the Basa Palace on Sunday, July 19, 2026, as part of activities marking the chief’s 16th anniversary on the Basa Stool.
Addressing traditional leaders, invited guests and residents, Nana Owusu Sakyi III said the gesture formed part of his long-standing commitment to complementing the efforts of state institutions responsible for safeguarding lives and improving public welfare.
According to him, effective security and quality healthcare are essential to the development of every community, and traditional authorities have a responsibility to support institutions that provide these critical services.
He explained that the motorcycles would enhance police patrols and improve rapid response to security incidents within the traditional area, while the chairs would help health facilities provide better services to patients and visitors.
Receiving the motorcycles on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, the Bono East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Shaibu Osei, thanked the Omanhene for what he described as a timely intervention.
He said the donation would strengthen the operational capacity of the police service, particularly in communities where accessibility remains a challenge.
DCOP Osei assured the chief and residents that the police service would continue to work closely with traditional authorities and community members to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of lives and property.
The Sene East District Director of Health Services, Dr. Emmanuel Waana Hen, who received the chairs on behalf of the Bono East Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, also expressed appreciation to the Omanhene for the support.
He described the donation as a valuable contribution to healthcare delivery in the district, noting that the chairs would improve comfort for patients and visitors at health facilities.
Dr. Hen assured the chief that the items would be put to good use and properly maintained to ensure they continue to benefit the community.
The presentation formed part of activities commemorating Nana Owusu Sakyi III’s 16 years of traditional leadership, a reign marked by initiatives aimed at promoting development, peace and improved social services across the Basa Traditional Area.
