The Vice Chancellor for the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual addressing the matriculants on Thursday February 29,2024 at both Winneba and Ajumako campuses of the University of Education, Winneba, has urged the junior members of the University to limit unnecessary outing and laziness in their tuner on campus.
Additionally, he emphasized the need for matriculants to recognize the inherent responsibilities that come with education.
He encouraged them to uphold integrity, cultivate critical thinking skills, and exercise prudence in their financial decisions to avoid imposing additional financial strain, rational, and reservations.
Prof. Mitchual also highlighted the university’s commitment to enhancing students’ intelligence and facilitating the fulfillment of their academic aspirations.
He outlined several provisions made by the university to support students in focusing on their studies and staying on campus.
These provisions include the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship scheme, aimed at assisting brilliant but needy students. Prof. Mitchual also mentioned the university’s agreement on a 50% payment of fees for both the first and second semesters, respectively, to alleviate financial burdens amid economic challenges.
Furthermore, he highlighted the resources available on campus, such as the university library containing thousands of traditional print articles, the provision of a WiFi system for academic works, and the 24/7 operation of the university’s clinic.
These resources are designed to contribute to a conducive academic environment for the matriculating students.

In his breakdown, the freshly commenced regular session of the 2023/2024 academic year at the University comprised 10,158 students. Among them, 9,053 are undergraduate students, with 4,502 females representing 45.3%, and 5,956 males constituting 54.7%.
Examining gender distribution, 36.2% of the 1,105 postgraduate students are females, while 64.8% are males.
When comparing the two campuses, Winneba boasted the highest enrollment, with 9,697 students, having a larger proportion of females, while Ajumako had a higher number of male students out of the total 461 students.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted that these figures underscore the University’s commitment to accommodating diverse backgrounds and promoting an inclusive learning environment at the University of Education, Winneba.
The matriculation ceremony officially inducted the new students as junior members of the University, conferring upon them all the rights and privileges recognized by the institution.
