“Dumsor” knocking at Ghana’s door again due to limited gas supply

Some part of Ghana is likely to be faced with acute power outages popularly called “Dumsor” in the coming days.

The development subsequently might affect businesses and other daily economic activities of citizens in the affected areas.

Contained in a press statement dated October 26, 2023, the Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCO) which is the operator of the National interconnected Transmission System, gave hint on expected outage due to what they described as limited gas supply.

GRIDCO said “due to the limited gas supply to Tema there will be a supply gap of 550MW at peak times”

The statement further has it that, “this will affect the supply of power to consumers in some parts of the country”.
