Former president of Ghana His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has cautioned the newly elected executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to cut short their celebrations to enable them set ready for work for the party on a mission of rescuing the country in 2024 general election.
Mr. Mahama who seemed to be standing tall as the favourite candidate to become the flagbearer of the NDC to contest the country’s upcoming general election said this at the Party’s 10th national delegate congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, December 17, 2022
Over 9,000 delegates of the largest opposition party stormed the national capital to decide for the party on what they described as a rescue mission to regain power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general election.
The former flagbearer noted that, the election results are the decision of the delegates hence the party has taken note of their decision and must work with it for victory in 2024
Stressing on the calls of the newly elected Chairman of the party, Mr. Mahama urged all candidates to be rest assured that losing the national election has never set the end of them in the party since they can still serve the party in other capacities.
“And the first thing I will say is that this celebration must be very short. We must cut the celebration short and set to work immediately. As I said, we are the witness for those who are elected who must be gracious in victory. For those who have lost, let us understand that there’s a lot of room under the umbrella for everybody.” And we’re all going to work together with the council of elders, the National Executive Committee (NEC), to make sure that all those who are not elected have a role to play in the victory of 2024.” Mahama assured.
John Dramani Mahama is very optimistic of the NDC party winning the 2024 election and called on the party folks to unite and work for the party to rescue the people of Ghana from the hardship, economic mismanagement and corruption that the country is currently facing.
He assured that, the opposition NDC will continue to work to hold the government accountable to the people of Ghana.
The former president and flagbearer has not declared his intention to contest the flagbearer position for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
