Mr George Akom, an IT and communication specialist and Senior Assistant Registrar at Ghana Technology University (GTU) in Kumasi, has appealed to the government to implement measures to address the recent power outages in the Ashanti Region.
He said the persistent power outages, popularly known as dumsor, were negatively affecting businesses and threatening the economic livelihoods of residents.
Speaking in an interview with Kwadwo Ofosu Baffoe, Mr Akom noted that some businesses were collapsing because their owners could not afford generators to provide alternative power during outages.
He therefore called on the government to take urgent steps to ensure a stable electricity supply to support business operations, protect jobs and improve the economic well-being of the people.
