The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North, Joseph Kwasi Mensah, has cut sod for the construction of an 11-kilometre road linking Odumasi and Dromankuma, a project expected to improve transportation, boost economic activity and enhance access to essential services within the constituency.

The project, being implemented in collaboration with the District Chief Executive (DCE), Effah Patrick, forms part of ongoing efforts to expand and improve road infrastructure across Nkoranza North.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony in Dromankuma, Mr. Mensah described the road project as a significant milestone in the constituency’s development agenda, noting that his office continues to pursue additional road projects alongside the government’s nationwide infrastructure programme.

He explained that although the road is not included in the government’s flagship “Big Push” infrastructure initiative, he has been working tirelessly to ensure that it receives the necessary support for construction.

The lawmaker expressed optimism that the project would be completed within 12 months and disclosed that additional inner roads across the constituency are also earmarked for construction to improve connectivity and facilitate development.

According to him, the road will reduce travel time, improve access to markets and significantly ease the transportation of agricultural produce, providing much-needed relief to farmers and traders in the area.

The District Chief Executive, Effah Patrick, highlighted several other development projects currently underway in Nkoranza North, including the construction of classroom blocks, Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and the drilling of boreholes in ten communities to improve access to quality education, healthcare and potable water.

Mr. Mensah and Mr. Patrick said the constituency is witnessing substantial progress in infrastructure development, adding that the Odumasi–Dromankuma road project complements the government’s broader agenda of expanding infrastructure to support economic growth and improve livelihoods.

The Chief of Dromankuma, Nana Kwasi Baffoe, expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament (MP) and the District Chief Executive (DCE) for responding to a long-standing request by the community.

He described the commencement of the project as a major achievement that would improve transportation and accelerate development in the area.

Residents who attended the ceremony welcomed the project, expressing confidence that the new road, together with ongoing investments in education, healthcare and water infrastructure, would open up the area for increased economic activity and improve access to essential public services.

Construction of the 11-kilometre road is expected to commence immediately, with completion scheduled within one year.
