The Queen Mother of Tantra Hills, Naa Odaaley Dzoomo I, has called on the government, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), corporate organisations, philanthropists and development partners to support the establishment of a fire station and the provision of a fire tender for the community to strengthen emergency response and safeguard lives and property.
The appeal was made during a media engagement ahead of the 2026 Tantra Hills Homowo Festival, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Family House in Tantra Hills.
Addressing journalists, Naa Odaaley Dzoomo I expressed concern over the rapid urban growth of Tantra Hills and its surrounding communities, noting that the area has experienced significant residential and commercial expansion without corresponding investment in emergency response infrastructure.
She said the absence of a dedicated fire station and fire tender leaves residents, businesses, schools and public institutions vulnerable to fire outbreaks, warning that delayed emergency response could lead to avoidable loss of lives and extensive property damage.
The Queen Mother, therefore, appealed to the government, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Ga North Municipal Assembly, corporate institutions and development partners to prioritise the construction of a modern fire station equipped with a fully operational fire tender to serve Tantra Hills and neighbouring communities.
According to her, improved fire safety infrastructure is essential to protecting lives, supporting economic growth and enhancing the resilience of the rapidly developing community.
Naa Odaaley Dzoomo, I further noted that the upcoming Homowo Festival is not only a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the people of Tantra Hills but also an opportunity to highlight the developmental needs of the community and mobilise support for addressing them.
She emphasised that sustainable development can only be achieved through effective collaboration between traditional authorities, government agencies, the private sector and residents.
The Queen Mother reaffirmed her commitment, together with the principal elders of the Nii Lante family of Onamrokor Adain, to champion initiatives that promote the safety, welfare and socio-economic development of the people of Tantra Hills.
She also extended an invitation to traditional leaders, government officials, corporate organisations, development partners, residents and the general public to participate in the 2026 Tantra Hills Homowo Festival, urging stakeholders to support efforts aimed at advancing the development of the community.
The annual Homowo Festival is one of the most significant cultural celebrations of the Ga people, commemorating resilience, thanksgiving and unity while providing a platform to promote community development initiatives.
