The reconstruction works on the Tsito-Anyirawase culvert section of the Accra-Ho road has been completed.

The road has subsequently been opened to traffic on Monday, September 25, 2023.

Briefing the media at a short ceremony at the construction site to open the road to traffic, the Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Highway Authority Mr. Aminu Issaka Abubakar, said many people especially the media are surprised at the short days at which the work was done.

He said the general public thinks the few days used to reconstruct the culvert was too quick as the Highway Authority has earlier given one calendar month to finish the work.

“The media are worried that we said we are opening the bridge today. That is the call I started getting from some media houses and we informed the media houses that this has not been a normal construction” he said.

He said seeing the importance of the road leading to the regional capital, it was treated under emergency.

He allayed the fears of the general public of any shoddy works despite the speed at which that portion of the road was repaired.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Sky Construction, the contractors working on the stretch, Mr Oliver Acquah-Techie, said they were called about the defected culvert last Monday and the following day which was Tuesday, September 19, 2023, they started work on the road.

He said as a construction company, seeing the emergent nature of that portion of the road, they applied all technology to complete work in a record time of six (6) days.

He further said, “we have worked on the section both day and night to achieve its completion in the six days looking at the frustration of motorists and other road users” he said.

He said the road is good for light duty vehicles and will be ready for all other vehicles in the coming days.

On his part, the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Ghana Highway Authority, the First Sky Construction and others stakeholders for their cooperation within the period.

He gave the assurance that the stretch from Low Price Masters filling station to the Anyirawase roundabout which is being washed-out will be worked on in due course.

The Tsito-Anyirawase section of the Accra-Ho Highway was closed to traffic on Monday, September 18, 2023 following a heavy rainfall that caused defects in the culvert making it unmotorable.
