Nana Ameyaw Antwi-Boasiako, Benkumhene of Buoyem and a leading member of the Keep Techiman Clean Campaign, has called on Christian and Muslim leaders to dedicate part of their weekly sermons to promoting sanitation and environmental cleanliness.

Speaking in an interview with ASTA News, Nana Ameyaw Antwi-Boasiako urged pastors and imams to devote at least five minutes of every preaching session to educating their congregations on the importance of proper sanitation practices.

He said improving environmental sanitation requires a collective effort involving traditional authorities, religious institutions, government agencies and individual citizens.

According to him, churches and mosques provide effective platforms for shaping public attitudes and behaviour, making religious leaders well-positioned to encourage responsible waste disposal and environmental stewardship.

He noted that regular sanitation messages delivered during religious gatherings would help foster positive behavioural change and contribute to cleaner and healthier communities.

Nana Ameyaw Antwi-Boasiako also appealed to residents to refrain from indiscriminate disposal of waste and to participate actively in community clean-up exercises.

He stressed that maintaining clean communities should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of government but as a shared obligation of every citizen.

He added that sustained public education and active community participation remain essential to achieving lasting improvements in sanitation in Techiman and across the country.
