Households and businesses will not face an increase in approved water tariffs in the fourth (4th) quarter of 2026, following a decision by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to maintain existing rates.
Contained in a statement signed by PURC Executive Secretary, Shafic Suleman Ph.D, the decision covers residential, non-residential, commercial, industrial and other categories of water consumers, with the Commission indicating that the tariffs remain unchanged from the previous quarter.
For residential consumers on the lifeline category, covering water consumption of up to five cubic metres, the approved rate remains 598.5381 Ghana pesewas per cubic metre, while consumption above five cubic metres remains at 1,058.9413 pesewas per cubic metre.
The monthly service charge for residential consumers remains GH¢10.
Non-residential consumers will continue to pay 1,791.5225 pesewas per cubic metre, with a monthly service charge of GH¢20, while commercial consumers will pay 3,205.1425 pesewas per cubic metre and a monthly service charge of GH¢20.

The approved rates for other categories have also been maintained. Sachet water producers will continue to pay 2,820.5254 pesewas per cubic metre, while bottled water and drinks producers will pay 3,205.1425 pesewas per cubic metre.
Industrial consumers will likewise continue to pay 3,205.1425 pesewas per cubic metre, with a monthly service charge of GH¢250.
For public institutions and government departments, the approved rate remains 1,538.4684 pesewas per cubic metre, with a monthly service charge of GH¢20. Public standpipes will continue to attract 717.0618 pesewas per cubic metre.
PURC said its decision followed an assessment of the economic and operational indicators considered in its quarterly tariff review.
The Commission’s broader objective, according to the decision, is to ensure that tariffs reflect developments in the operating environment while allowing utility providers to remain financially viable and deliver services to consumers.
For households, the unchanged tariff means there will be no additional increase in the approved water charge for the fourth quarter on the basis of PURC’s latest review.
The Commission also said it would continue monitoring the quality of service provided by regulated utility companies and apply its regulatory standards and benchmarks to ensure consumers receive value for money and improved service delivery.
