The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a DAF articulator truck suspected of transporting narcotic substances concealed in secret compartments, leading to the recovery of 5,164 compressed round parcels.
The interception took place on September 14, 2026, following intelligence received by the police.
According to a news release from the Oti Regional Police Command, the truck, with registration number GE 3906-15, was searched after it was intercepted, resulting in the discovery of the suspected narcotic parcels concealed in compartments within the vehicle.
Three Arrested, One Suspect Escapes
Three (3) persons travelling in the vehicle were arrested. They are Abdul Razak Adamu, 35, a driver, Jubril Amidu, 33, a mechanic and Aliu Adamu, 33, a driver.
A fourth occupant, identified as Adamu Iddi, escaped and is currently being pursued by the police.
The three (3) arrested suspects were arraigned before the Dambai Circuit Court on September 17, 2026, presided over by Justice Dr. Moses Bedima Duut.
The court remanded them into police custody to reappear on October 15, 2026.
The truck has been impounded, while the suspected narcotic exhibits have been secured to support investigations.
Police Pursue Other Persons Connected to Consignment
The Oti Regional Police Command said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the escaped suspect and identify other persons connected to the consignment.
The Command also assured the public of its continued commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and organised crime and appealed for credible information that could assist the Police.
