The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a total of fourteen (14) suspects over their alleged involvement in the cultivation and distribution of narcotic drugs at Daliga in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday, August 16, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in collaboration with the newly established Black Cobra Team.
Police said a search conducted during the operation led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances concealed in sacks of millet and maize.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspected Indian hemp was being cultivated alongside millet and maize, allegedly to conceal the farms and evade detection by law enforcement authorities.
The police further suspect that the arrested individuals form part of a network supplying narcotic substances to drug peddlers operating in various parts of the Upper East Region.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be put before the court to face the appropriate charges.
The police command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspected narcotics operation and identify other persons who may be connected to the activities.
