One suspect dead in police anti-robbery operation

A suspected armed robber has died following an intelligence-led operation at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

Police source said, “The suspects, Amadu, also known as “Manu,” sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and was later pronounced dead”

The Police Intelligence Directorate, on March 18, 2026, conducted a special anti-robbery operation at Ejura to arrest members of a robbery gang who have been terrorizing residents and commuters.

They noted that, these same gang have also been involved in a series of robberies in the area.

“The suspect has been linked to a robbery attack on 14th March 2026 along the Atebubu–Ejura highway, where the robbers fired into a moving vehicle and injured a passenger.”

Exhibits retrieved from the suspect include a single-barreled gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone, and a cash sum of GH¢200.

However, the operation has been intensified to arrest other members of the gang and bring them to justice.
