The National Headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has approved the Ketu North Constituency to proceed with its constituency executive elections on Sunday, July 19, 2026, following the resolution of issues that led to the postponement of the earlier exercise.

The approval was conveyed in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, signed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Danquah Buttey Smith, and addressed to the Ketu North Constituency Elections Committee, the Volta Regional Chairman, and the Constituency Chairman. The Volta Regional Steering Committee was copied on the directive.

According to the memorandum, the party’s national leadership reviewed the circumstances surrounding the suspended election and concluded that the outstanding concerns had been resolved, paving the way for the constituency to elect a new set of executives.

The Acting National Chairman directed the constituency to begin preparations for the polls and urged election officials to ensure that the process is conducted in accordance with the party’s guidelines governing the 2026 internal elections.

He stressed the need for a peaceful, transparent, credible, and orderly election, saying the process should reflect the democratic principles of the New Patriotic Party.

Mr. Buttey Smith also commended party leaders and members in the Ketu North Constituency and the Volta Region for their patience, cooperation, and commitment during the period in which the elections were put on hold.

He expressed confidence that the constituency would conduct a successful election capable of strengthening party unity and enhancing its organisational structures.

The Ketu North poll is among the remaining constituency elections being conducted by the NPP as part of its nationwide internal electoral process aimed at electing new grassroots executives ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The party’s national leadership reaffirmed its support for the constituency and appealed to delegates, candidates, and party officials to cooperate throughout the electoral process to ensure a peaceful and successful outcome.
