IGP Deploys Intelligence and Anti-Robbery Officers to Bono East and Northern Regions

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed personnel from the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters and the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit (AARU) to the Bono East and Northern Regions.

The deployment is aimed at reinforcing ongoing security operations and leading a manhunt for suspects behind two robbery incidents recorded on May 2, 2026.

The first attack occurred at Sampa, near Jato Zongo in the Atebubu District, where armed assailants stormed a fuel station. The attackers shot and killed two individuals, injured several others, and made away with cash from the attendant.

In a related incident, another group of armed men ambushed a passenger bus near Nasia along the Bolgatanga–Tamale Highway.

The gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, killing two passengers instantly and leaving others with gunshot wounds.

Police have since intensified armed patrols in the affected areas and assure the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
