The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested three (3) former students of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School for allegedly destroying school property after completing their final examinations.

According to a police press release issued on June 23, 2026, the suspects were identified through a viral video that captured a group of former students unlawfully damaging a school water pipeline shortly after writing their last examination papers.

Police said the school authorities lodged a formal complaint on June 19, 2026, reporting that about five (5) former students had been recorded vandalizing the school’s water infrastructure before leaving for their respective homes.

Following the complaint, the Regional Police Command deployed intelligence and surveillance teams to track down the suspects.

The operation led to the arrest of three (3) individuals identified as Rashid Suraj Dakpo, 19; Alhassan Mohammed, 20; and Abdul Kadri Abdulai, 20 years.

The suspects have since been handed over to the Regional Investigations Department to assist with investigations and are expected to face criminal charges.

The police noted with concern that acts of vandalism by students after completing school have become increasingly common in some educational institutions and warned that any student found engaging in such unlawful conduct would face the full rigours of the law.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects believed to have participated in the incident.

The Volta North Regional Police Command also appealed to parents, guardians, and teachers to continue educating young people on the legal consequences of destroying public and school property.

Police said they remain committed to protecting public assets and ensuring that individuals responsible for acts of vandalism are held accountable.
