Ho MCE cuts sod for the construction of Astro turf

The Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Divine Bosson, Mr. Francis Augustus Badu and Madam Delphine Dogbega both of Ghana Gas Company Limited have jointly cut the sod for the construction of an artificial football field-Astro turf at the Ho Technical University campus in the Ho municipality of the Volta Region.

The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Divine Bosson at the sod cutting ceremony said the construction of the facility will improve the many sporting talents in Ho and the Volta Region at large.

He said “even though we do not have the factories and industries, we have talents. Sports men and women are so much in the region and if we can harness these talents, they will be our first industries in the municipality”.

He called on residents of Ho and the football franternity to cooperate very well for a successful completion of the project.

The Community Relations Manager of Ghana Gas Company Limited, Mr. Francis Augustus Badu, said the investment formed part of the company’s community service responsibility.

“Development in communities actually open up the socio-economic activities of the communities and for that matter if you get one, you should be happy” he said.

The Vice Chancellor of the Ho Technical University (HTU) Professor Ben Q. Honyenuga, on his part, said the project will lift again the good image of the university, adding that the choice for the university campus was very good.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Landwind Limited, Francis Klass-Peters, the contractors executing the project, said the FIFA standard facility will be completed in six months.

He said the project when completed will have a standard artificial turf, sensing and then floodlights.

He gave the assurance that the first phase will be done within the scheduled time of six months.

The project is being funded by the Ghana Gas Company Limited.
