The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ho Central Constituency in the Volta region, Hon. Edem Richmond Kofi Kpotosu, has announced plans to establish the Education and Health Development Fund (EduHealth Fund) if elected.

This fund aims to assist vulnerable members of society under the next NDC administration.

He emphasized that the establishment of this fund would provide essential medical care to women and children, particularly those with disabilities, thus alleviating the hardships faced by the less fortunate members of the community and ensuring they receive the necessary medical attention.

Hon. Edem Richmond Kofi Kpotosu made these remarks during a meeting with students at Ho Technical University (HTU) who have disabilities, as well as women living with disabilities, in the Ho Central Constituency.

Furthermore, the candidate pledged to implement an apprenticeship program specifically designed for individuals with disabilities in the constituency, guaranteeing them priority access to the program once it is initiated with their support during the campaign and on election day.

He urged persons with disabilities (PWDs) to seize these opportunities for personal development and to hold authorities accountable by familiarizing themselves with disability laws that protect their rights.

He also encouraged PWDs to view themselves as integral members of society and challenged them to aspire beyond their current circumstances, emphasizing the need for more inclusive systems in the nation to empower individuals living with disabilities.

The group also appealed to the parliamentary candidate to assist them in acquiring costly assistive devices and advocated for special housing arrangements to alleviate their struggles when seeking accommodation in Ho.

The Dean of Students at Ho Technical University (HTU), Madam Elizabeth Obinim, encouraged attendees to embrace the term “Differently Able” and pursue their aspirations with determination, while also urging PWDs to actively advocate for their share of the Assembly Common Funds from the District Assembly.

She invited students, particularly those facing financial hardship, including PWDs, to visit her office to access the Dean of Student Fund, which is specifically allocated to support needy students.

Additionally, she assured them that any concerns regarding lecture halls would be addressed if reported to the appropriate authorities.
