The Ho Central NDC parliamentary candidate has pledged to support female inmates of the Ho Central Prison with startup capital to facilitate possible reunions and improve living standards with their relatives after serving their prison terms.
Hon. Edem Richmond Kofi Kpotosu emphasized the importance of skill acquisition and development for the women during and after their incarceration.
He believes that providing financial support will enable them to integrate back into their families and communities, leveraging the skills they acquired while in custody.
On March 19, 2024, the parliamentary candidate joined the Ho female inmates for a dinner to commemorate his 49th birthday, aiming to bring joy to the inmates and promote a sense of motherhood.
Hon. Kpotosu also urged the inmates to show humility towards the officers in charge of their welfare, viewing them not as adversaries but as teachers and mentors who can help them correct the mistakes that led to their imprisonment.
He called on both the officers and inmates to keep him in their prayers and to vote for him in the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, along with supporting John Dramani Mahama for president, to enable him to fulfill his promises.
This marks the second time in two weeks that the parliamentary candidate has made such a generous gesture towards the Ho Central Prison.
Previously, he donated educational materials to enhance the inmates’ education and skills acquisition, and now he engaged with the female inmates, providing cooked food, soft drinks, and water to celebrate his birthday.
The women entertained the candidate with songs, displaying excitement on their faces. Both the female inmates and the female Prison Command appreciated the gesture and expressed hope to see him represent the Ho Central Constituency in parliament.
