The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam Adoagyiri and minority chief whip, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has called on the government to stop importing maize and instead resource the National Buffer Stock Company to purchase crops directly from local farmers.

He made the call on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Kyiriahi in the Kintampo South Constituency during day two of the Minority Caucus’ three-day engagement with farmers in the Bono East Region.

According to him, strengthening the buffer stock system will ensure farmers receive ready markets for their produce, improve their incomes, and enhance their livelihoods.

The Minority Caucus is continuing its tour today across three constituencies: Kintampo South, Nkoranza North, and Nkoranza South, as part of efforts to engage farmers and understand challenges affecting agricultural production.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Hon. Kwasi Gyamfi Onyinah Acheampong, also appealed to the government to revive the economy and ease the financial burden on Ghanaians.

Farmers who interacted with the delegation expressed frustration over the lack of ready buyers for their crops, noting that the situation has caused significant hardship and affected their livelihoods.
