GJA-VOLTA UNVEILS FIRST OFFICIAL VEHICLE

In a brief ceremony at the Volta regional Press Centre, the leadership of the Volta regional branch of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA-Volta) has outdoored a Ford Explorer Vehicle to facilitate the day-to-day running of operations and activities of the association in both Volta and Oti Regions.

The vehicle which is donated by a business man who wanted his name to remain anonymous, followed an appeal from the association for a means of transport to facilitate its movements and operations in the two Regions.

The donor said, he was moved by the effort of the association to support growth of small and medium scale business in the region and beyond.
“I am impressed by your interest in the growth of businesses and your support to viable but collapsing businesses in the region. I have also been following the progress of the association in building a Press Centre, media Village, sanitation campaign and initiating regional awards. This is just to facilitate all you do for mother Ghana” he stated
The Volta Regional Chairman of the GJA, Mr. A.B Kanyi, expressed gratitude to the donor and all others who are and have continued to support the association in all activities to achieving positive results in their operation in the region.

He noted that, the gesture which is the first of its kind, will go a long way to ease the transport challenge in their operations. 

“In fact, transportation has remained a big challenge to us as a executives and Association as a whole trying to cover the districts and the two regions. What we have been doing in the past three years putting up this Press Center, securing land for affordable housing, and our regional Awards events tells you how much we have been moving about for all these activities” A.B Kanyi.
According to a press statement release later to this effect, the Volta GJA Secretariat observed that, for journalism to attain its highest standard in a growing economy like Ghana, journalists require support for regular training, logistics, better remuneration and welfare initiatives.
“we are opened for such support even as we approach the 2020 election and urge media owners to guarantee the safety and better working condition of service of their employees”

The regional Minster, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa who was present at the ceremony lauded the leadership of GJA Volta for the ingenuity in addressing the challenge of the Association and all media practitioners in general, as he assured of his continuous support to the development of the media in the region.

Reverend Father Anthony Ahiabor, an associate Priest at the Kpetoe St Stephen’s Catholic church concentrated the vehicle and prayed for the safety of all Journalist.
Meanwhile, Volta GJA continues to advance the frontiers of the noble profession by living the way through initiatives such as these to add value and recognition to the craft. 
GJA Volta is not only the first to organize a Regional Awards but also the first to build a Regional Press Centre, secure a land for Media Village and the first Regional branch to acquire an official Vehicle.
