Residents of Viepe, a suburb of Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region were thrown into shock after discovering a body of a young boy hanging dead at the beach.
The body of the victim was found around 8pm on Wednesday, April 13 2022.
According to the Denu Police Command, they received information that a young man had hanged himself on a Canoe at the Viepe beach.
Police source said, they moved to the scene and saw ” a boy aged about 15, hanging with a blue nylon rope on a Canoe with the inscription “winners never quit and quitters never win”.
Photographs and measurements were taken after which the body was loosened for inspection.” They further noted, the cervical vertebrae were found broken and the tongue protruding.
Police also gathered that, the incident might have happened after 7.00 pm when the workers had closed and gone home.
The yet to be identified body was deposited at Central Hospital Morgue in Aflao for further investigations.
However, the Denu Police Commander, ASP Nakoja is calling on residents within the Ketu South municipality whose son is within the said age bracket and has not returned home since yesterday to contact the station for identification and collection.
