The Ghana Police Service is investigating a possible financial dispute involving GH¢500,000 as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder of two relatives at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region.

The victims, identified as George Atuguba, 57, and his niece, Irene Atuguba, 47, were found dead at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have been triggered by a financial disagreement involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the principal suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, but failed to repay the money.

In a press release dated October 30, police said the suspect reportedly went to the deceased’s residence that morning with a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni to demand repayment.

A misunderstanding allegedly ensued, during which Osei Anto reportedly shot and killed George Atuguba and his niece.

The police source said the Sakumono District Police Command dispatched officers to the residence after receiving information about the incident, where they discovered the two victims lying in a pool of blood.

They were subsequently rushed to a hospital, where a medical officer pronounced them dead. Their bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The police have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the principal suspect and bring him to justice.
