Consumers of electricity across Ghana will pay the same approved tariffs in the fourth (4th) quarter of 2026, after the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) decided not to adjust electricity rates.
The decision means the existing electricity tariffs will remain in effect from October 1, 2026, offering households and businesses some certainty in planning their energy expenditure for the final quarter of the year.
Under the approved rates, residential customers on the lifeline tariff of up to 30 kilowatt-hours will continue to pay 89.9315 Ghana pesewas per kilowatt-hour, with a monthly service charge of GH¢2.13.
For other residential consumers, electricity consumed between zero and 300 kilowatt-hours remains at 203.7509 pesewas per kilowatt-hour, while consumption above 300 kilowatt-hours remains at 269.2235 pesewas per kilowatt-hour. The monthly service charge remains 1,073.0886 pesewas.
Non-residential consumers will also see no change, with the tariff for consumption up to 300 kilowatt-hours remaining at 183.9549 pesewas per kilowatt-hour, while consumption above 300 kilowatt-hours remains at 224.0395 pesewas.

PURC said its decision followed an assessment of key economic and operational factors, including the Ghana cedi-US dollar exchange rate, inflation, the price of natural gas and the country’s electricity generation mix.
The Commission applied a weighted average exchange rate of GH¢11.5646 to the US dollar for the fourth quarter, compared with GH¢11.2228 in the third quarter. Projected annual average inflation also increased from 3.43 percent to 4.97 percent.
At the same time, the weighted average cost of natural gas declined from US$7.9708 to US$7.8379 per MMBtu.
PURC also projected an increase in the contribution of hydroelectric generation from 20.90 percent in the third quarter to 24.25 percent in the fourth quarter, while thermal generation was expected to decline from 79.10 percent to 75.75 percent.
The Commission said these factors informed its decision to maintain electricity tariffs rather than adjust them for the quarter.
For consumers, the decision means electricity charges will remain at the approved third-quarter levels as they head into the final three months of 2026.
PURC, however, said it would continue to monitor the operations of regulated utility providers and hold them accountable to regulatory standards and benchmarks on service quality and value for money.
