The Ashanti Central District Police Command has secured the conviction and sentencing of Christian Owusu, a 22-year-old man, to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbery.
According to the police, the conviction followed a robbery incident reported at the police station on July 21, 2026.
The victim reported that at about 12:21 p.m. on July 21, while heading towards Konromase Township, he was threatened and robbed of his handbag, which contained personal effects and cash.
Following investigations, Christian Owusu was arrested on August 4, 2026, and subsequently put before the Asamankese Circuit Court on August 7, 2026, presided over by His Lordship Mr. Kwabena Barfimpong.
The accused was charged with robbery and pleaded guilty to the offence.
Before sentence was passed, Owusu pleaded with the court for forgiveness. The court considered his plea and sentenced him to a minimum term of 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour.
The convict has since been handed over to the authorities at Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving his sentence.
The Ashanti Central District Police Command said the conviction forms part of its efforts to combat robbery and other violent crimes and ensure that offenders are brought before the courts.
