President John Dramani Mahama has travelled to Moscow, Russia’s capital, to take part in the Third Russia-Africa Forum, hosted by Vladimir Putin, president of the Russian Federation.

President Mahama travelled from Ethiopia to attend the high-level summit with other African heads of state and government with the goal of enhancing political, economic, and cultural ties between the Russian Federation and Africa.

During the summit, President Mahama is scheduled to attend the official plenary sessions and take part in the Economic and Humanitarian Forum alongside his fellow African leaders.

A major highlight of the visit will be a high-level bilateral meeting between President Mahama and his Russian counterpart, President Vladimir Putin.

The two (2) leaders are expected to discuss key areas of mutual interest, strategic partnerships, and ongoing global developments.

In addition to state-level diplomacy, President Mahama will actively engage the Russian private sector. He is slated to grant an audience to a select group of prominent Russian businesses and state institutions to explore avenues for trade, investment, and bilateral cooperation.

In terms of culture, President Mahama will attend a unique Kente exhibition hosted by the Russia-Ghana Parliamentary Forum, which is organised by the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry and features Ghanaian exhibitors. Beyond highlighting Ghana’s rich cultural legacy, the exhibition aims to strengthen parliamentary and interpersonal ties between the two countries.

During President Mahama’s visit to Moscow, two of Russia’s top universities, the Russian University of Transport and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, will present him with honorary doctorate degrees in separate ceremonies as a token of appreciation for his leadership and public service.
