UPDATE: Oti Police Commander Visits Nkwanta After a Renewed Clash

As part of efforts to strengthen peace and stability within Nkwanta and its environs, the Oti regional police command has engaged the various affected communities in the area.

The regional police commander, DCOP Alex Acqua, led the joint team of Police, the military, the BNI, and the Defense Intelligence Officers to meet the Zongo chief, Alhaji Issaka Kayaba, and his elders, where he conveyed messages of condolence on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to the families of individuals slain during the recent violent clash.

He also visited the site of a previous arson incident in Dadaga, where two other lives were lost, to assess the situation.

DCOP Acqua assured residents of the command’s commitment to monitor developments in the area and called on residents to remain calm and law-abiding and also cooperate with the security agencies to ensure peace in the area.

However, the Zongo chief, Alhaji Issaka Kabaya, assured the delegation of the community’s commitment to peace, non-retaliation, and coexistence.
