The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two (2) suspected robbers in connection with an armed robbery attack that occurred along the Tumu-Kowie road in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region.
The suspects, identified as Seidu Muizu, 20, and Salifu Mutada, 22, were apprehended following what police described as a swift intelligence-led operation launched after the incident on May 30, 2026.
According to preliminary police investigations, the two men allegedly robbed three individuals at gunpoint and made away with an unregistered Apsonic motorbike.
Police said the stolen motorbike was successfully recovered during the operation, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Further investigations resulted in the retrieval of an additional unregistered Loujia motorbike, which investigators believe may have been used in carrying out the robbery. Both motorcycles have been impounded as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.
The Upper West Regional Police Command indicated that intelligence gathered so far suggests the suspects may be linked to a series of robbery incidents that have recently affected residents in Tumu and surrounding communities.
As a result, investigators are expanding their enquiries to determine whether the suspects were involved in other criminal activities reported within the district.
The two suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, law enforcement officers are continuing efforts to recover the firearm allegedly used during the robbery.
In a statement, the Upper West Regional Police Command commended members of the public for their cooperation and support in combating crime, emphasising the importance of community involvement in maintaining security.
The command also encouraged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to assist police in preventing and investigating criminal activities across the region.
Authorities have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents while pursuing all leads connected to the case.
