The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a scathing attack on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for making “easy promises” without substance as the opposition party unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming elections.

Speaking during the manifesto launch event at the Jophus Anamuah Mensah Conference Centre at the University of Education, Winneba, in the Central region of Ghana, the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey emphasized the importance of integrity and honour in political promises.

Mr. Kwetey criticized the ruling NPP for its history of making unrealistic promises, citing examples such as the 1992 promise to build rail lines from Accra to the northern part of Ghana.

He described the NPP’s approach as a simple competition between who can promise without regard for feasibility or principle.

In contrast, Hon. Kwetey pledged that the NDC’s promises would be anchored on sound principles and policies, inspired by a respect for the Ghanaian people.

He highlighted the party’s track record of delivering on its promises during its previous term in power.

The NDC’s manifesto, themed “Change to Reset Ghana,” promises a new approach to governance, prioritizing substance over rhetoric.

The NDC General Secretary assured that the party’s policies would be guided by a commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Key policies captured in the NDC’s manifesto reading include
Granting scholarships for all first-year tertiary students across the country, Running a 24-hour economy, extending the Free SHS policy to the private sector, and building technical and vocational schools to promote artisanship and apprenticeship.

Others also included the establishment of the Women Development Bank to empower women, setting up a special judicial system to instigate all scandals alleged by the current government, and many more policies to implement if the party gains victory in the December 7 polls.

As the election season heats up, the NDC’s message of responsible governance and principled leadership is likely to resonate with voters disillusioned with the NPP’s perceived lack of follow-through on its promises.
