MTN Ghana Foundation extends love to christmas day babies

The MTN Ghana Foundation has extended love to newborn babies on Christmas Day by presenting to them hampers in four selected hospitals in the Volta Region.

The Ho Teaching Hospital, the Ho Municipal Hospital, the Royal Hospital and Fertility Centre and the Adidome Government Hospital are beneficiaries.

The presentation was done on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, Boxing Day.

The Ho Teaching Hospital recorded five (5) new babies including a set of male twins, the Ho Municipal Hospital had four (4), the Royal Hospital and Fertility Centre had four (4) and the Adidome Government Hospital also had four (4) new babies.

Speaking exclusively to Class News Volta Regional Correspondent, Kingsley Attitsogbui, a Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, MTN Ghana, Mrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, said MTN Ghana has been doing this donation for the past 12-years.

She explained that the gesture symbolizes the tradition of giving gifts during the Christmas season, mirroring the biblical account of the wise men presenting gifts during the birth of Jesus Christ.

“Just as Jesus was born, we were told that wise men gave gifts and so we also give gifts to babies who are born on the day that we are celebrating the birth of Christ and so it is just symbolic of what was done ages ago” she said.

She said Christmas is a season of showing love and so MTN Ghana Foundation does the presentation of hampers full of baby items to members of the communities who deliver on Christmas Day.

She informed that the hampers were baskets full of baby items including baby Clothes, Diapers, Cream, Blankets, Power among other items babies needed in the first few months of their lives.

She indicated that 30 hospitals were selected across the sixteen (16) regions of the nation and 500 hampers were distributed.

At the Adidome Government Hospital, the team was welcome by the Nurses Manager, Madam Elizabeth Azumah.

She was very appreciative for the selection of the Adidome government hospital as a beneficiary and also the gestures shown to the baby mothers the MTN Ghana.
