Hon. Agbavitor calls for support to the needy in our hospitals

An Aspiring chairman of the Volta Region National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Mawutor Agbavitor, has called on benevolent entities and individuals to come on board to support children and the less privileged in our health facilities.

Mr. Agbavitor made this appeal when he visited the paediatric unit of the Ho teaching Hospital to make some donations.

After presenting some toiletries, water and other items to the children unit of the hospital, Mr. Agbavitor noted that, it is his desire to be supporting patients and nurses.

He noted that, this initiative will give hope to the needy and the vulnerable so as not to feel isolated and neglected for being a patient in the hospital.

He said, he was touched to take the bold steps since he was once a victim in such situations therefore the need to give his supports to put smiles on the faces of patients.

He further assured them of his readiness to come to their aid when the need be and urged the doctors and nurses to always play their necessary roles to save lives at all times.

He also re-echoed the need for the general public to always remember to support people in need at the hospitals as he toured some parts of the unit to be detailed with information and challenges parents and nurses are facing that need urgent attention.

Mr. Agbavitor however paid on behalf of baby Adiza (not her real name) who was discharged from the facility, but her parents could not afford the rest of her bills and therefore remained in the hospital.

Dr Richard Danyoh, head of department at the Paediatric unit of the Teaching Hospital who received the donation on behalf of the facility appreciated the donor for his kind gesture.

He further lamented on lack of some important equipment including Echocardiogram and Oxygen concentrator that the facility is in dire need of to enable them rescue children.

Dr. Danyoh recounted how parents whose children need these services are being charged per hour to enable their wards to survive.

However, Mr. Mawutor Agbavitor has pledged to donate some of equipment as requested by the unit.

He mentioned that he will personally purchase some of the equipment for the hospital and also solicit for support from friends abroad to ensure effective health service delivery in the hospital.
