Ho MCE vows to arrest community chiefs over bush fire

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ho Hon. Divine Richard Komla Bosson has vowed  to set the record straight over a new environmental concept of maintaining the natural reservation and beautification of the natural resources in the Ho Municipality of the Volta region.

According to him, the assembly concept of preserving and maintaining the natural environment in the municipal which earned Ho an accolade called Oxygen city needs to be maintain.

He said, the assembly will strictly enforce the concept to enable Ho flourish with natural and healthy atmosphere.

Mr. Bosson who was speaking as special guest of Honour at the 12th Ho east presbytery synod of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Ghana thanksgiving service at Ziavi Dzogbe in the Ho municipality stressed that, the assembly is ready to enforce the concept.

He stated that, community members including Chiefs that will flout the directive shall be arrested and dealt with accordingly by the assembly taskforce.

“Assembly Taskforce will arrest any community member who will cause bush fire to destroy the natural forest in the area. Should community members fail to identify the people who caused the fire, the taskforce will arrest the chief of that community” he said.

The MCE said, the Assembly members, Chiefs and the National Fire Service will collaborate to enforce strict adherence and arrest individuals who may be identified to have acted contrary to the directive adding that, it is the only means unnecessary depletion of natural environment through bush fire will be stopped.

Hon. Bosson lamented on what he described as self seeking interest resulting into bush fire ravaging the natural vegetations in the communities.

He warned residents of Ziavi to as matter of urgency stop rampant bush burning if not the name “Green Valley” as they called them, will be missing since bush burning is likely to take the concept from them.

He added that the Assembly’s Oxygen City concept has considered Ziavi communities as one of the communities suitable for the agenda taking into consideration the beautiful vegetation of the area.

He further revealed that, the Ho Municipality is now engaging in Cocoa farming in large scales therefore unnecessary bush burning must stop in the area.

He however applauded the church for numerous contributions to the development of the country.

With what he mentioned as a dependable partnership, he said government is closely monitoring the developmental efforts of the church through schools and others that the church has been using to contribute to the country’s development.
