After several plea to get the government fix the deplorable Nkwanta-Kpassa stretch of the Eastern Corridor Road, drivers from Kpassa in the Nkwanta north district of the Oti region have decided to organise themself to fix the road.
to enable them to ply it easily.
The Nkwanta-Kpassa stretch is one of deplorable roads in the region, receiving little attention for the past ten years.
Even though the road is said to have been awarded to a Chinese construction firm for fixing, this part of the eastern corridor road is still as a death trap endangering lives of commuter.
Speaking with some drivers, they said many efforts have been made to get that stretch of the road fixed but yielded no positive result.

The drivers lamented that the manholes that the road had developed make it unmotorable and sometimes resulting in fatal accidents hence the decision to undertake the self-construction to make it a bit easy to ply.
They indicated that market women and sick people are unable to travel on the road due to its deplorable state.
The drivers, however, threatened not to take part in any general election if government fail to construct it.
In an interview with the Nkwanta South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Bright Kwame Lenwah, he said many efforts have been made together with the Oti regional minister Joshua Makubu to get the road fixed but the Chinese contractor who was awarded the contract failed hence the need to terminate the contract.
He therefore pledged that, the contract will be re-awarded to another construction firm soon to enable work to begin.
The MCE further appealed to drivers and commuters to exercise patience and bear with them as they work around the clock to get the road fixed.
