The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, has inspected about 10 ongoing development projects in the Nkoranza North District as part of efforts to monitor the implementation and progress of government-funded projects in the region.
The inspection was intended to assess the progress of work, identify challenges affecting project execution and ensure that contractors adhere to agreed timelines and standards.
The projects, being undertaken by the Nkoranza North District Assembly under the leadership of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Patrick, are spread across several communities in the district. Funding for the projects is largely being provided through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
Among the projects inspected were three-unit and six-unit classroom blocks, a modern kindergarten block, dormitory facilities, a 12-unit storey classroom block, teachers’ quarters, water-closet toilet facilities, Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and a nurses’ bungalow.
The regional minister also inspected the 24-hour economy market project at Kranka, which is expected to become an important commercial hub for the district when completed.
The market is intended to support local businesses, create opportunities for traders and stimulate economic activity within Kranka and surrounding communities.
Other communities benefiting from the projects include Tanfiano, Yefri, Bodom, Konkrompe, Senya and Busunya.
Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on most of the projects.
He said regular monitoring was essential to ensure that government investments were properly utilised and that projects were completed according to the required specifications and timelines.
According to him, the progress recorded on the projects reflects the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and delivering development to communities across the Bono East Region.
The minister, however, expressed concern about the pace of work on the 24-hour economy market at Kranka, describing the progress as slower than expected.
He therefore called on the contractor to increase the pace of construction to ensure the project is completed within the agreed timeframe and made available to the people of the district.
For his part, the Nkoranza North District Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Patrick, thanked the Regional Minister for taking time to inspect the projects and provide guidance on their implementation.
He disclosed that the Assembly was preparing to cut sod for 10 additional projects in the district, which would further expand infrastructure development in various communities.
The inspection forms part of ongoing efforts by the Regional Administration and the Nkoranza North District Assembly to monitor public projects and ensure that development investments translate into tangible benefits for residents.
