As part of activities to mark the International Women’s Day celebration, the Women’s Ministry of the AMSDA District of the Mid-North Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church has donated assorted items to inmates at the Techiman Divisional and Municipal Police Cells
Items donated included cooked packaged foods, bagged water, mixed gari and other essential items worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
Speaking to the media during the presentation, the AMSDA District Women’s Coordinator, Mercy Dankwa Fosua, said the gesture was motivated by the teachings of Christ to show love and compassion to people in difficult circumstances.
According to her, many people in police custody often lack basic necessities and emotional support, therefore the church found it necessary to extend a helping hand to them as part of their Christian responsibility.
The AMSDA District Pastor, Isaac Fosu, called on Christians and the general public to cultivate the habit of supporting people in distress, especially inmates in police cells who may not have relatives or friends to provide for their basic needs.
Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, Sageant Daudu expressed gratitude to the AMSDA District for the kind gesture. He said the donation would go a long way to support the inmates and assured the church that the items would be properly distributed.
