Residents of Kpedze and its surrounding communities in the Ho West District of the Volta region have demonstrated and petitioned the District Chief Executive over relocation of the supposed agenda 111 district hospital project from kpedze to Dzolo-kpuita in the Ho west district.
According to them, the district is trying to deny them their share of government developmental initiatives after the Ho West Congress of Paramount Chiefs and Queen mothers held a meeting to ensure that development projects in the Ho West territory are distributed fairly.
“It was agreed that Avatime will benefit from all tourism-related development projects in the district, everything related to agriculture and agribusiness and industry will be centered in Abutia, education will be centered in Awudome traditional area, and health-related developmental projects will be centered in Kpedze traditional area.” Part of their petition said.
The people of Kpedze are of the view that the facility should not be relocated from Kpedze to Dzolo-kputa since Dzolo-kputa is already close to Ho and Saviefe Catholic hospital, where patients may receive good healthcare.
The petition further considered that the relocation of the facility to Dzolo-kpuita could be unfair and an insult to the people of Kpedze given that, the negative impact of poor healthcare delivery in Kpedze communities and its environs is already a huge challenge due to the lack of a standard Health facility in the area.
“Even the Ho West District Assembly has not made any attempts to engage the community and the good people of Kpedze are consequently deeply disappointed in all the powers that behold the ruling New Patriotic Party and the Ho West Congress of Paramount Chiefs and Queen Mothers led by interim President Osie Adzah Tekpor V.”
According to the petition, they have resolved to disassociating themselves from Ho West District should the government failed to respond to their quest
They also revealed that Assembly Members shall not participate in any sitting in the Ho West District and also, no revenue collector from the Ho West District Assembly will be welcomed into Kpedze communities.
They said, they will further seize all political activity by the ruling government in all parts of Kpedze communities if nothing is done or conveyed within two weeks.
They therefore called on stakeholders, Minister of Health. DG-GHS, Volta Regional Minister, and Regional Health Director to do the right thing by responding to their petition as soon as possible.
“We implore you all to check into the problem as soon as possible before our agitation devolves into disorder and anarchy in the neighborhood
It could be recalled that Hon. Ernest Apau the District Chief Executive of Ho West District on Friday, April 22. formally handed over an 18-acre site to the contractors and also performed the sod-cutting at Dzolo-Kpuita, the district capital, for the construction of 60 bed capacity Agenda 111 Hospital project by the Nana Addo led Government to be completed in 15 months at the cost of Dollar S9.3.
Meanwhile as at the time of filling this report, Hon. Ernest Apau is yet to respond to anything related to the demonstration by the people of Kpedze.
