Adamu, Agbe win PM election

The Assembly member for Kpedze Awlime Todze electoral Area in the Ho West District, Hon. Adamu Kasim Osman, has been elected and sworn in to serve as the Presiding Member of the Ho West District.

This forms the Ho West District’s fourth assembly after its inauguration from the Ho Municipality.

Hon. Kasim was elected as the Assembly member for his electoral area for the second time on December 19th, 2023, in the District Level Election held across the country.

He defeated his close contender, Hon. Mawuli Atide of Abutia Agorve, in the first round with 21 votes against 6 votes and won the runoff on Yes or No votes after the contender withdrew from the race to enable Kasim get his One-Third of the vote, replacing Hon. Rita Sename Eglanya, the former Presiding Member.

Hon. Adamu Kasim, a pharmacist, was among the 37 members inaugurated into the fourth Assembly in the Ho West District, popularly known as the Green District.

In a related development, Hon. Mawunyo Agbe has also been retained to serve his second term in the Ho Municipality as the Presiding Member, winning with 36 votes against his contender, Hon. Macbillions Dickson Bansah, the Assembly member for Sokode Gbogame electoral area, and Hon. Frank Awumah, the Assembly member for Ho Hliha electoral area.

Prior to the inauguration and election, in his speech, the Ho Central Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Benjamin Komla Kpodo, congratulated the 8th assembly of the Ho Municipal Assembly and urged them to put up more resilient efforts to bring more development and changes to local governance.

 He entreated them to respect each other by conducting themselves well during their assembly meetings and further advocated for the amendment of the tenure of office for the Presiding Members from two years to four years.

He charged all the PMs to pass resolutions in their meetings to parliament for the amendment, just as they have done in developments in the previous assembly.
